Sine Wave
This interface module was originally part of an interactive room installation created in 2001. Back then I had used it within an application developed with Macromedia Director where it would control the behavior of other interface modules.
Now I extracted it, cleaned it up and threw it into Processing.
Click and drag your mouse in x- and y- direction over the wave to change its amplitude and wave length.

BMW iDrive
developement of an interactive interface for an installation featuring BMWs new iDrive. The task had been to trigger a user sitting in the driver seat and to connect this event with the video presentation. For this project I programmed a Java application which controls video playback through sensor input. The installation had been exhibited at worldwide auto shows.

Masters Project: Accelera
Translating Irritation into Information

How does information in digital media develop? How can sufficient potential for generating information be ensured for the future so there will be further development of knowledge? A theoretical model on information design based on the principles of modularity, analogies and selforganisation and applied to an interactive installation.

The installation was exhibited at Merz Akademie Stuttgart in January 2003.

German Emigration Center Bremerhaven
Studio Andreas Heller asked me to join their team of architects, designers and historians to create a center that would revolve around the history of german emigration. One of the main objectives of this project was to make emigration experienceable for the visitor. My duties included conceptualisation and design of interactivity.

Shown here is an information exhibit I designed.

Modularlab
Since I am one of the partners at Modularlab our online presence is also my playground to experiment with interface concepts and technologies. Shown here are our actual (very reduced) version, our new Blog developed with Wordpress and the one previous version.

Modular System
With Modularlab we created a modular system thru which we develop dynamic design and communication solutions for our clients. We use this application to visualizes the modular system and to generate the right design and communication structures together with the client.
I developed the application to run fullscreen on our local computers in Flash Player. Since I try to avoid using Flash for online projects, I also wanted to test Flash for its potentials in replacing Macromedia Director to create such applications.

Daimler Benz – Innovation
Jangled Nerves (Stuttgart based agency for media space design) contracted me as part of a team to create a mixed-media installation on the history of innovations by Mercedes-Benz. I was involved in the conceptualisation, historic research, creation of visual and textual contents, storyboarding and project management. The installation won a 2004 iF Gold Award.

Lost Space
Lost Space is my midstudy project created in winter semester 2000/01. It was developed in a cooperation between me studying interactive media and Iris Benker studying photographie & video.

The project is dealing with fictive “time experience”. It enters into the phenomena of timeshift and nonlinearity in the course of time.

Unitair
Unitair is a free project I created in 1999. I was interested in the correlations between 2 and 3-dimensional spaces.

Angel Sighs
Angel Sighs – The Music of J.Spaceman and Spiritualized is an ongoing project to produce a tribute album. The Website informs about the status of the project and contains a Flash music player with all the songs that have been chosen for the album so far. Hopefully we will be able to produce the album in the not to far future.

Schmaelzlicht
It is dark. A person enters the room and becomes a light source. Light and person form a unit. On its own the unit is unstable. It strives towards an interference, calls for another entity. A second person enters the room and merges with light. This unit is also looking for another entity. If they find each other they can create an interference.

1.FC Koeln Museum
concept
I was contracted by facts+fiction (Cologne based agency for exhibition design) to create some interactive concepts of exhibits for the museum of the 1. FC Cologne (football club). One of my ideas had been to base the exhibits on Tipp-Kick figures (www.tipp-kick.com).
